Kyiv, 3 March: On the eve of the International Women’s Day, with this year's theme “Equal rights, equal opportunities: progress for all”, and with support from “National network of men-leaders against violence”, UNDP has supported signing of the "Declaration of Respect". The Declaration is in support of equal rights and opportunities of women and men, as well as children rights protection in Ukraine.

Kyiv, 17-18 February: Ukrainian education system is still promoting gender stereotypes among children and youngsters. Therefore, it is important to include gender equality topics in educational programmes and curricula of secondary schools and higher education institutions. Such a conclusion was formulated during the All-Ukrainian gender education Forum “Education and equality”. The Forum was conducted in Kyiv, on the initiative of Equal Opportunities and Women’s Rights in Ukraine Programme (joint project of the European Union, UNDP, SIDA). More than 300 teachers, students, scientists, researchers, national and regional officials and experts on gender issues took part in the Forum.

Ten unknown facts about domestic violence in Ukraine: a joint EU/UNDP Project releases new poll results PDF Print E-mail

Kyiv, 15 January: Nearly half of Ukrainian population suffered from domestic violence in their lives, and 30% were subjected to violence in their childhood age. Women more often suffer from domestic violence in their adult life, while men – in their childhood, as a new public poll suggests. The survey looked at violence in Ukrainian families, with its scope and in-depth analysis being conducted for the first time over the past 10 years in Ukraine. The poll was carried out by GfK Ukraine and commissioned by "Equal Opportunities and Women’s Rights in Ukraine Programme", a joint project of the European Union and UN Development Programme in Ukraine.

Three National Universities to open Gender Education Centres PDF Print E-mail

Kyiv, 14 January: "Equal Opportunities and Women’s Rights in Ukraine" Programme (a project funded and implemented by the European Union and UNDP in Ukraine) has signed Memoranda of cooperation with three Ukrainian Universities. Within the frameworks of this document, the Universities will establish three Gender Education Centres with support of the Project.
